Does anyone know how to fix this issue?
Yes, uninstall the 'activation' software.
A hard drive doesn't need any software. If it is so flakey that it needs software, you should return it for something that isn't such a pile of crap.
Software The T5 comes embedded with new intuitive software for PCs and Macs. to easily set the password and get the latest firmware updates. You can also download the mobile app for Android smartphones and tablets. Software requires Windows 7, Mac OS X 10.9 (Mavericks), Android 4.4 (KitKat), or higher.

Besides the activation software, it has also installed Paragon so that you can leave the drive formatted for Windows.
Unless you need it to work with Windows, that bundled NTFS software will likely break at various OS updates and upgrades because it is also a cheap, hobbled version of the retail software.
If you must use it with Windows and you must use their password scheme, you'll have to wait for Samsung to release a version that isn't garbage. No guarantee that won't break at the next update.
Or, you can format it for the Mac as APFS or HFS+ with encryption. Then get rid of the crapware they misled you into installing.

Hi Everyone,
Samsung Portable Ssd T5 Software For Mac Pro
I recently purchased an external Samsung T5 SSD, 1TB edition. My question is, does anyone have an issue when connecting to the SSD and getting an error message saying the drive was not ejected properly?
I do eject it properly either by dragging to the trash can or by using file, eject SSD. Also I only seem to get this message when I use the encryption software on the drive… yes I could just turn it off but it was a big reason for buying it so I don't really want to and for £370 I shouldn't have to.
I have a Mac Book Pro 2015 and am running High Sierra, although id did it with the previous system too.
Does anyone have the same issue? Did you figure out a way to solve it? and does it do it with the Samsung T3 SSD version of the 1TB drive too?
Many thanks,
